An attribute certificate creates added value for a generator…
An electricity generating facility must be registered with the I-REC Standard before I-REC Standard certificates can be issued. The organization registering such a facility can be the owner of the facility or their representative agent. They are known as a 'registrant'. The generation of I-RECs allows electricity generators to receive additional revenue for their production. Registrants work with the I-REC issuer, who is responsible for device registrations in the country or region where the electricity generator is located. An issuer maintains the quality criteria laid out in the I-REC Code.
For more information on the registration, generation and issuance of I-REC certificates please view the I-REC Guide here.
